The Vidarbha Handicraft Artisans Welfare Association is a well-known NGO registered under the Society Act, 1860, and the Public Trust Act. It has been working in the various social handicraft sectors, especially for poor and traditional handicraft artisans, for the development of their skills and livelihood with the collaboration of various government and non-government departments since 1992.
Vocational Training Programs for Women, Integrated Design Projects, Design Workshops, Tools Distribution, Study Tour of Craft, Skill Development Programs, Plantation and Sanitation Programs, Seminars and Social Upliftment Activities, Personality Development Seminars, and Market Promotion Events like Gramshree Mela, Vidarbha Mahotsav, Gandhi Shilp Bazar, Craft Bazar, Handicraft Exhibitions, Shilpotsava, Dipotsav, Jharokha, etc.
The NGO runs the SFURTI Cluster at Khaparkheda for 450 women artisans, named Zari Zardozi, Embroidery & Stitching Cluster.
The organization has more than 5,000 registered artisans. Over 15,000 artisans from across the country have been provided a business platform through various market-related activities implemented by VHAWA.
